This year Robinsons Equestrian will continue to support one of the biggest horse events in the UK, Horse of the Year Show (HOYS), which takes place from 6th – 10th October 2021 at The NEC, Birmingham.

HOYS was originally started in 1949 by Tony Collings and the aim was to run a champion of champions showing event at the end of the equestrian season to celebrate the sport. Mike Ansell and Colonel VDS Williams (Chairmen of the British Show Jumping Association and British Horse Society) heard about this amazing idea, but also decided that this fantastic new show should also become a BSJA jumping show alongside the champion of champions showing event. Ansell believed that it was show jumping that would really excite and wow the crowds and that the two should be tied together.

Running now for over 70 years, HOYS has grown from strength to strength. In 2002 the venue moved from Wembley Arena, London to the NEC, Birmingham, where it has continued to expand. The show welcomes over 1,600 horses and ponies, 1,500 competitors and 60,000 spectators.

With the last year and a half being so challenging for everyone due to COVID-19, Robinsons wanted to also go one step further and sponsor a class this year at HOYS. Introduced back in 1985, the Pony Foxhunter Championship this year will be named the ‘Robinsons Equestrian Pony Foxhunter of the Year’. This exciting class plays such an important part for young riders moving up into senior show jumping and is currently set to welcome 28 combinations into the huge Andrews Bowen International Arena, where the public can watch the evening performance which is set to take place on Friday 8th October.

Harriet Billingham, Commercial Manager at Robinsons Equestrian commented: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Horse of the Year Show once again. As one of the premier events in the equestrian calendar, it’s something we and our customers look forward to year in year out. This year, sponsoring the Robinsons Equestrian Pony Foxhunter Championship is particularly exciting as it gives us the opportunity to say thank you and well done to the equestrian community during the challenging times we’ve seen over the past year.”

Event Director Emma Williams commented: “I am delighted to welcome Robinsons Equestrian as a new class sponsor for the show, having worked with them previously we know that they are passionate in supporting the equestrian industry. Robinsons Equestrian are a company that so many of us have grown up with, they know the importance of offering quality products for both horse and rider and offer products for all ages and abilities. We look forward to working with them as they support the prestigious Pony Foxhunter this year, a class that has played a part in the development of so many of the UK’s showjumpers.”
